have been selected for the upcoming Cannes Film Festival which will be held from
May 8-18 this year. For the third consecutive year, three Marathi movies are set to be screened at the festival.
Last year, Sandeep Bhalchandra Patil's
Dashkriya
, Prakash Kunte's Cycle and
Girish Joshi's Take care good night has made the cut. In 2016,
Ringan, Halal, Vakratunda Mahakaya
had received these honors.
This year’s selected movies were shortlisted from 26 films vying to make it to this prestigious event. In fact, they were also selected to be screened at other important film festivals in the country.
Palshichi PT
is the debut film of director Dhondiba Karande. The film was previously screened at Pune International Film festival and Solapur International Film festival. While Idak featuring Kishor Kadam, Usha Naik, Sandeep Pathak and Kshitij a Horizon were selected for International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. Moreover, Kshitij had also won ICFT -UNESCO Gandhi Medal at IFFI.
