Marathi celebs miss Dahi Handi celebration, share memories

Corona pandemic situation has resulted in cancellation of the Dahihandi events in various places. Actors who usually attend one or the other event on the day are missing it. Some of the artistes share their experiences of DahiHandi celebration with Times Group.
Actress Neha Pendse is missing the energy of the festival. She says, "Considering the pandemic scenario this year the festival won't be the same but I am sure that the enthusiasm amongst us is the same.The festival gives me a different energy. When I attend such a fest celebration the response from the fans gives me energy which is difficult to get from other public events.” Shruti Marathe, another leading actress from the industry also misses the celebration. She along with other artistes also celebrate the festival. Like Neha she also misses the vibe of the festival. She says, "I attend the celebration at different places, this gives me a chance to meet new people. This festival set the tone for upcoming festivals like Ganpati, Navratri, Diwali so on. We artistes also celebrate festivals and enjoy the process. I am missing the festival this year.”
Actor Comedian Bhau Kadam also feels the same, "Every Govinda pathak can be seen very charged up during the festival. Their sporting spirit gives me energy to work. This year many Dahi Handi celebrations have been called off owing to the pandemic situation, The move has increased respect towards the organizers."
While there are many who have cancelled the celebration this year, Actress Manasi Naik got the invitation to attend one. "I denied the invitation. Considering the present scenario, we should follow social distancing, stay and celebrate the festival at home," Manasi told Maharashtra Times.
ActorSantosh Juvekar feels nostalgic, he shares how he used to celebrate the Dahihandi during earlier days. "I used to stay at ShastriNagar, with friends I used to go at each house for Dahi handi and Ganpati contribution. Everybody used to treat us with prasad. I miss that kind of celebration.” The celebration is special for actor Sushant Shelar. "This day is special for me as its a birthday of my daughter Anvi,” he shares
