Marathi actors pay tribute to late Ramesh Deo

Marathi actors paid their heartfelt tribute to the veteran actor
Veteran actor Ramesh Deo passed away at the age of 93, after suffering a heart attack. Deo was unwell for the past few days, and was admitted to a private hospital in Mumbai, where he breathed his last.

Fondly remembering the late actor, actor-director,

Sachin Pilgonkar

said, “When I started my career as a child actor, he was already an established

Marathi

film and stage artiste. He had a great ability to pull off versalite roles with great ease. He played a hero as well as a villain, and portrayed each character with a lot of conviction. His contribution to Indian cinema has been outstanding.”

Deo dabbled in Marathi as well as Hindi cinema, leaving a mark on the audience with his portrayals. In Hrishikesh Mukerji’s classic Anand, Deo shared the screen with two stars – Rajesh

Khanna

and Amitabh Bachchan – and left a lasting impression on viewers.
Actor Bharat Jadhav, who worked with Deo in three films, recalled, “He was full of life. What I found extremely endearing about him was that he was very welcoming. He was so humble towards a newbie actor like me. I remember he had given me a water mist fan during one of the shoots. I still have that with me, and it will always stay with me as a sweetest memory about him.”

Veteran actress Alka Kubal, who acted in Ramesh Deo’s directorial

Senani Sane Guruji

, added, "I first met

Rameshji

at the premiere of my film

Maherchi Sadi

, through his son Ajinkya (who played the actress’ brother in the film). He was so generous towards the young actors. He had no airs about himself. As a co-actor too, I admired the fact that he would remember his lines so well. He led a disciplined life, which was inspiring. I loved Seemaji and his jodi. May his soul rest in peace.”
