Marathi cinema has found serious takers among the Japanese. So much so, that Japanese filmmakers, Yuta Shimotsu and Mitsunori Yokobori traveled all the way to India to visit the set of 'Fatteshikast' to meet director Digpal Lanjekar. Filmmaker, Digpal Lanjekar's last release 'Farzand' was able to leave a mark and garnered a lot of appreciation for his direction, on set skills, and his story-telling abilities.

It went on to become one of the highest-grossing films in the Marathi film industry. It was not only the box office numbers that made the news but the fact that it ran for more than 50 days in the theatres, too. The film 'Farzand' has also garnered much appreciation from the audience in Japan as well. The two well-known filmmakers of Japan, Yuta Shimotsu and Mitsunori Yokobori recently visited the set of 'Fatteshikast' to meet director Digpal Lanjekar to praise him for his blockbuster film, 'Farzand' and know about his upcoming film, 'Fatteshikast'.

While speaking exclusively to Etimes, Digpal Lanjekar said "Japanese filmmakers had watched my last film, 'Farzand' and they were very impressed with story and scenes from the film. So, they visited our studio to know about our technics and also about our upcoming film 'Fatteshikast'. I also told them about our Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and they were very impressed and we also gifted them the idol of Shivaji Maharaj"
Titled 'Fatteshikast', the film, claims Digpal, is based on the first surgical strike conducted by Shivaji. Digpal says, “Farzand revolved around Kondaji Farzand, however, in Fatteshikast, the story talks about one big and exceptional mission undertaken by Shivaji Maharaj. The surgical strike was executed by Maharaj (played by Chinmay Mandlekar) but it was planned and strategized by Jijau Mata (played by Mrinal Kulkarni). It is not a prequel or sequel to 'Farzand', it is part of the same series.
Digpal Lanjekar's directorial 'Fatteshikast' is produced under the banner of Almonds Creations. It features stars like Chinmay Mandlekar, Mrunal Kulkarni, Nikhil Raut, Harish Dudhadhe, Anup Soni, Ankit Mohan, Sameer Dharmadhikari, Mrunmayee Deshpande, and many more. The film is slated to release on 15th November 2019.
