We had this club called Ruia Naka, which kept all the alumni connected. Even though Nishi was almost 10 to 12 years senior to me, we became close friends and bonded over theatre. We were a part of a big gang of friends. He was someone who would be brutally honest with us and had a great impact on all of us. I used to pull his leg and call him kaka. I have lost my buddy."
Manava and Nishikant had acted together in a TV show as well. "We worked in a TV serial called Unit 9. I remember when I decided to fly to the US to pursue a film course, I had only shared the news him and Kshitee Jog. He strongly supported me. Also, he would organise special screenings of his films for his Naka gang. Last film, we saw of his was 'Madaari'."
Nishikant Kamat has done amazing work both in Hindi and Marathi industry. His Marathi outing 'Lai Bhari' starring Riteish Deshmukh is remembered as one of the blockbusters in Marathi cinema.
