National award winning director, Rajendra Talak, is gearing up to launch his next film after a two year gap. His last film, O Maria, had premiered in IFFI 2010. Was it a planned sabbatical? It was not a sabbatical at all, says Talak, who launched his new film A Rainy Day amidst his friends, cast and crew. I was working on the script of the new film, researching and collecting data and planning the production. Like his earlier film, Talaks new film is also based on current topic thats bothering the common mans mind.
My film is based on corruption something thats on every persons mind these days, he says. Its a national question, therefore I have not based my story out of one particular cityit could be any metro that we are talking about. Does that mean you will be shooting your film outside Goa? No. I am shooting the film in Goa, but not making the story city or state specific, he elucidates.
His new film whose title he refuses to disclose is a Marathi film. To start with, Talak says, I am thinking of making it in Hindi and Konkani as well.
What about the starcast? For Marathi the lead pair is Mrinal Kulkarni and Subodh Bhave. But I have not yet zeroed down on Konkani and Hindi cast. Will do that once I decide when and how I will make it in those languages.
