Director of national award winner multi-language film 'Court' Chaitanya Tamhane recently revealed his inhibitions about working in bollywood. In an interview to a website, in response to a question about his skepticism towards making a Hindi film, he said, "If I were to work in Bollywood, Id be a colossal failure," and added, "Its just that I dont associate myself or the work I want to do with Bollywood.
I think the mainstream media expect you to go that route because its so dominant and powerful. Ive nothing against it."
Even before it hit the screens on April 17, 'Court' was on the receiving end of several plaudits - not just within the country but across the globe too. It first premiered at the 71st Venice International Film Festival, where it won the Best Film in the Horizons category and the Luigi De Laurentiis (Lion Of The Future) award for Tamhane. Ever since then, it has been recognised at various international film festivals and award functions, and has also performed decently at the box office.
