Recently, actor Atul Kulkarni, who is quite active online, expressed his views on domestic helps. The actor posted a message on a social networking which read:
Is it high time we increase the value and dignity of 'human labour' in India ; by paying our domestic helps according to what WE CAN AFFORD even if it's MORE than what 'everyone else pays' ??? (sic)
The post triggered reactions from various people and resulted in a lengthy online debate with Atul participating in it.
After reading all the comments, we figured, the core of what Atul thinks is that, while it is high time to offer revised and better pay packages, leave allowances and perks etc to domestic helps, their remuneration should be based on value based pricing methods. At the same time the actor strongly feels about educational empowerment and social transformation of the family.
Well, Atul truly has a heart made of gold.
The actor is currently awaiting the release of his film 'Happy Journey' directed by
Sachin Kundalkar and also starring
Pallavi Subhash and
Priya Bapat.
