Director Gajendra Ahire, whose film 'Anumati' recently got Vikram Gokhale the National Award for best actor, is a happy filmmaker as the film was recently awarded the best film at the 13th New York Indian Film Festival on May 1. The festival showcases movies made by directors of Indian origin based in different parts of the world.

Woven around relationships, Anumati is a sensitive story about a 65-year-old family man (essayed by Vikram) who is struggling to save his ailing wife. The film also features actors Neena Kulkarni, Reema Lagoo, Subodh Bhave and Saie Tamhankar.
