Ananth Mahadevan's Mai Ghat: Crime No 103/2005 to be screened in Cannes

This year, the Cannes Film Festival could not keep its May date with filmmakers and cinephiles due to the coronavirus pandemic. But, unwilling to curtail the fest altogether, the 73rd edition has decided to adapt its
format to current times. The first initiative is Marche du Film Online, a standalone online market to support the international film industry and help professionals.

It kicks off today and continues till Friday. Representing India, Ananth Narayan Mahadevan’s Marathi film

Mai Ghat: Crime No 103/2005

will premiere on June 25.

“There are no films in competition and no awards. I won’t even be present at the French Riviera, but it’s still a privilege to have a Cannes premiere and be able to use the label to market my film. That in the midst of total
stagnation, my film is still alive is a creative high,” says Ananth, who was taken by surprise by the call from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
