Expressing his happiness on his film’s selection at the prestigious festival, Ananth, says, "My films getting a selection at KIFF is a special feeling. The festival is extremely competitive, hence ‘Bittersweet’ featuring in the Indian competition makes it even more momentous. ‘Mai Ghat’ winning the Best Film here, last year, had instilled a great sense of inspiration and you could say that ‘Bittersweet’ can be a consequence of that. All said and done, being selected in back-to-back editions of KIFF is something that I will always cherish."

Bittersweet has also got into the main competition at the prestigious

Busan

International Film Festival and will be screened on October 25. Ananth’s ‘Bittersweet,’ a film based on the lives of female sugarcane cutters, who are victims of hysterectomy, will see Akshayaa Gurav playing the protagonist and also mark her debut in Marathi films.

Anant Mahadevan has carved his niche in Marathi cinema. He has quite a few acclaimed movies to his credit. He has helmed movies such as 'Rukhmabai Bhimrao Raut', 'Mee Sindhutai Sapkal' and 'Mai Ghat'. He had also announced a biopic on Dr Rakhmabai with Tannishtha Chatterjee playing the protagonist. Interestingly, the film also marks her debut in Marathi cinema.
