Ever since the trailer of the film first released, fans have been raving about the film's lead starrer Amey Wagh and Sai Tamhankar's chemistry in the film. This is the first time actor Sai Tamhankar and Amey Wagh are paired opposite each other. While the film traces the life of Amey Wagh and his journey with his

girlfriend

(played by Sai Tamhankar) and well, both of them indeed make it look like a promising watch.

Speaking to Etimes, Amey Wagh said " I am a

big fan

of Sai Tamhankar. Sai is known for her brilliant performance in

Marathi cinema

. She acts so perfectly as if she was born in front of the camera. She understands the technicalities of acting on screen. She is a workaholic and good at everything she does"

While backing Amey's strengths, Sai said " I know Amey from long but we never got an opportunity to work together on the big screen. After a long time, I played a character which is of my age. I was so happy when I came to know Amey and I will play the lead in the film. I have seen him doing shows and theatre, and I don't think that Amey can't do. He also keeps people around him entertained and that's amazing quality. It was a refreshing change to have Amey with me. We had a good time and a lot of memories during the shoot. You put him on any platform and he owns it. He is confident and extremely witty."

'Girlfriend' is produced under the banner of Huge Production and Pratishad Production and also produced by Anish jog, and Ranjit Gugle. The film is slated to release on 26 July 2019.
