Anant Mahadevan's film ‘
Bittersweet
’ recently bagged a nomination at the prestigious
Busan International Film Festival
. In the movie,
Akshaya Gurav plays the character of Saguna, a
young sugarcane cutter
who stands up to sugarcane barons to stop
hysterectomy
.
Overwhelmed with achievement, recently she shared about her experience of working with Anant Mahadevan. Akshaya says, "For the movie we were shooting in a village. We were living in a hotel and used to travel to the locations for early morning shifts. Anant Mahadevan always carries a smile, every morning he used to welcome everybody with a big smile. When I used to come, he used to give me a smile too and even he used to greet me with a hug. I never saw him angry on set. He used to talk to all of us very calmly because he knew that if he shouts then the artiste and crew will perform under pressure affecting the work."
Even Akshaya used to get compliments after scenes very often, "I know I have put 100 percent efforts for the role. During the shoot Anant sir used to appreciate my work a lot. Receiving compliment from him was assurance that I have given a good shot."
Akshya who has done Marathi television and has been a part of shows like ‘MehendichyaPanavar,' ‘MansichaChitrakar,’ ‘Love Lagna Locha,’ etc, Bittersweet is her first feature film. She says, “Besides the fact that 'Bittersweet’ is my first feature film, where I'm playing a leading lady, it is for the first time that I'm working with Anant sir (Anant Mahadevan). I simply can’t contain my happiness. It is like a dream come true for any actor. I'm glad that my debut film is getting appreciated on a global platform."
