Addinath Kothare has been globetrotting the last couple of weeks. After visiting Singapore and Dubai for his recent Marathi release, this week, the actor-filmmaker is continuing his international travels with a visit to the

Cannes

Film Festival. At Cannes, Addinath is meeting international producers and collaborators, to pitch his upcoming production

Bena

, which will be directed by Nitin Dixit.

This is his second visit to the

French Riviera

and he’s excited about the possibilities that he’ll get to explore. “The last time I was at Cannes was for a producers’ workshop in 2016. So, in a way, that journey has completed a full circle as I am trying to implement the learning from that workshop in 2022 for our upcoming film,” he says, adding, “I also feel proud that this is one of the five films selected by the government of India to be part of this section of the fest.”

The actor is also happy about Indian cinema commanding attention at a prestigious festival like Cannes. He shares, “It’s such a proud moment for the Indian film fraternity. Being the country of honour at Cannes is a big deal as all eyes are on Indian cinema now. We have become the centre of attraction in the international space and that’s a big deal for everyone in this industry! From here on, it will only be an upward road for Indian cinema.”
