Actor Ruchita Jadhav becomes victim of cybercrime and harassment

Actor Ruchita Jadhav, popularly known for her role in youth-centric show — ‘Love Lagna Locha’— recently became a victim of cyber-bullying and online extortion. The actor’s Instagram account was hacked by an unknown user with a Turkish mobile number, who sent her threatening messages to destroy her career if she doesn’t oblige to pay $500 USD to get her account back.

Although Ruchita’s friend and PR— Amol Godke managed to get her account back within three hours, the actor stresses the need to speak up on cybercrimes. “I got a mail from Instagram that I had violated their policy, when I verified, I learned that my account got hacked as there were some random posts on my wall. Within a blink of a moment, I received series of What’sApp messages from a Turkish number asking me $500 USD. I immediately contacted Amol who managed to get my account back. When I posted a story online spreading awareness, the user sent me messages threatening to destroy my company.”

She went on to add, “If I can fell prey to this, imagine it can happen to anyone, there are so many who are not aware and get scared. I had support from Amol which many people don’t have. So we all need to speak up against cybercrimes. I was very disturbed as someone for the first-time blackmailed me. I was very worried as someone was abusing me, invading my social media and messaging me on my private number. It was certainly a matter of concern.”

Although there was no FIR lodged against the accused, the actor blocked the user and secured her accounts. The phone number is traced from a location in Turkey.
