‘Ashtavakra‘ being the first Marathi film to be shot at the Kolhapur Central Jail recently hosted a primere for the inmates of the jail. Before the films official release the makers of the film decided to do something special for the inmates. Writer- director
Pradeep Salunke organised the premiere of this film at the Kolhapur Central jail in presence of jail superintendent Sharad Shelke, Police Chief (Women’s Wing) and 63 Women prisoners.
The film portrays nexus between system and criminals. The film questions whether these people are criminals by birth and who brings them to this criminal world? All these and similar aspects are going to be unfolded through the film. The film was moulded after Pradeep Salunke read something about the women prisoners and their children. To make this film more realistic he met these children, whose mothers were undergoing jail sentence and was really stunned. The film is going to be released across
