About the Movie

Lack of gripping story, faulty execution of the plot and lackluster performances, there is no silver lining to this film. You can give this one a miss.

Thapadya Movie Review {1.5/5}: Critic Review of Thapadya by Times of India

Story: A con artist Suresh tries to frame an innocent theatre artist Devdutta for the crimes he has done. However, looking at the faith Devdatta’s mother has in her son, Suresh admits to his crimes in the court of law.Review:Movies revolving around the confusion caused by look-alikes are many. But if the punch lines and direction of such movies fails, they end up being tedious. Thapadya is one such film and frankly, it fails the audience on all levels. Neither does it have an original story, nor does the director succeed in holding the viewers' attention.Devdutta (Abhinay Sawant) is an honest Tamasha artiste who is wrongly framed by Suresh (Abhinay in a double role). Devdutta’s life goes awry but the film focuses more on the cons that Suresh pulls off, while Devdutta's role is relegated to the background for the most part. There is no thought that goes into the story. Moreover, too many folk songs only hamper the progress of the plot. After a while, things get repetitive and from then on, it's all a game of wait and watch, till the end. In the acting department, Abhinay fails to impress and isn't able to distinguish between the the two roles at hand. A seasoned actor like Mohan Joshi is wasted in this film as well.Lack of a gripping story, faulty execution of the plot and lackluster performances make this film hard to endure. You can give this one a miss.
