Looose Control

Story: To clear their college exams, three students consult a senior. He gives them an advice that they readily accept. Turns out it's a decision that they will soon regret.


Review: Straight up, Looose Control is what would happen if Priyadarshan directed an adult comedy! It has the director's comedy of errors kind of style that usually draws humour from the chaos that ensues when too many people get connected to what originally is supposed to be a simple plan.

So we have three engineering students, Amol (Mhatre), Jaggu (Pen) and Pinak (Kerkar), who are on the verge of failing there exams and are desperately seeking a way out. Their desperation leads to Rocky (Badrike), who is somewhat a porn king of the college. Rocky promises to help them pass but demands a sex video of Amol and his girlfriend Komal (Naik) in return. The trio agrees (don't ask how and why) and then begins their tryst with problems that multiply by the hour.

Looose Control has all elements of an adult comedy. It is crass, homophobic, misogynistic and lacks logic. However it makes no claims to being a clean comedy and perhaps that's one of the reasons why viewers might find it funny. Of course that doesn't erase the fact that it still is all the things mentioned above.

The more important reason why this film could work is the performances of the lead trio. Manmeet, fresh from Kaccha Limbu's appreciated performance, blends into his character as does Kerkar who throws in the right punches at the right time. Mhatre is sincere but needs some work on his acting skills. The leads are supported well by Shashank Shende and Bhau Kadam who add to the humour.

The film goes off track when it tries to add a moral lesson (something totally misfit here) towards the climax. Also, the way it unfolds is predictable and sometimes repetitive.

Director Ajay Singh's Looose Control has a few funny scenes and if you are willing to leave your thinking caps at home, you can risk watching this once.
