Fandi

Story: Based in a small village, Fandi revolves around the otherwise routine life of the villagers which is suddenly transformed after an incident there. The said incident turns the village in a hotspot of political and news activity.

Review: There are films that keep you hooked with their thrill element or stories and there are those that do so by keeping you confused. Fandi belongs to the latter category.

A young kid is bitten by bees. A rash on his hand leads to a fever but the doctor rules out anything serious. That is until the next morning when the kid’s parents find a boy almost thrice the size of their son, in their house. Initially unable to identify him, the parents soon understand that it is their son who had, miraculously and inexplicably grown so big! The doctors can seem to understand the cause and treatment shows no results. Just when you are wondering how bizarre a can film be, Fandi opens Pandora’s Box and takes the viewer on a trip across village politics, superstition and the most random scenes to have been shown on the big screen after MSG’s films.

In simple terms, the film is a horrible mix of Deool and Peepli Live minus basic sense of filmmaking. In trying to keep you confused for a while by throwing the film off-track, the makers forget to get it back on tracks. Moreover, the below average performances hit the final nail in the coffin for Fandi.

If you want to watch a film this weekend, there are better ones.
