Dream Mall

A surviving story of a girl on the run from a psychopath.

Review: Do malls scare you? They will, after you watch this film. It is easy to get lost in the maze of paths in the huge buildings and the experience can get downright frightening if you are alone in a mall at night and a psychopath decides it’s his day today.

The film unfolds in a mall during the wee hours of the night when a girl (Neha Joshi) working late is on her way to the parking lot and is attacked by the security guard (Siddharth Jadhav). The psychopath makes his intentions clear through his lustful actions. The girl escapes from his clutches but is lost in the maze with no one for help (the guard makes sure of that when he kills her friends). The chase goes on and boils down to a NH-10 like confrontation between the girl and the guard.

'Dream Mall' is a film that could’ve done wonders with the right amount of technical expertise and promotion. The lack of both renders this film not as impactful as it could’ve been. There are moments of shock and a chase that keeps you on the end of your seat.

Neha Joshi is shrill but gets the job done perfectly. Siddharth Jadhav’s psychopathic and lustful portrayal of the guard reinstates his calibre as an actor. It’s a shame the stereotypical comic roles that he gets restrict his acting prowess.

Apart from Neha’s shrill monologue during the climax (which in fact has hard-hitting lines), the film is a good one to watch if you are patient enough to sustain the empty spaces onscreen.
