Asehi Ekada Vhave

Story: The owner of a masala company falls in love with the voice of a radio jockey. It takes a while before they meet and start getting to know each other well.

Review: Most of the times, an overdose of publicity reveals everything about a film, but, for not letting the suspense of this film out, the makers of Asehi Ekda Vhave deserve credit. However, 15 mins into the film, you realise what they’ve been keeping from you.

So the story revolves around Siddharth (Kamat), owner of a masala company, and Kiran aka RJ Cute Kiran (Pradhan) and their developing love affair. Though the two have never met, Siddharth is head over heels in love with Kiran’s voice and doesn’t miss any show of hers. Oblivious to this ‘fan’, Kiran is busy with her life until one day when Siddharth decides to rope in Kiran as the voice of their company’s radio campaign. The two meet and hit it off, but a sudden incident puts their brewing romance on backtrack. Since Kiran considers it her fault, she decides to sort things out.

The film’s story is genuine but for most of the first half, the viewer has to sit through the onslaught of RJ Kiran’s non-stop chatter. It takes its time to get to the crux and once it does, it looks like things will start picking up finally. The upward graph is short-lived though as Asehi Ekda Vhave gets into the typical drama space soon.

On their part, the actors have done well. Umesh gets under the skin of the character and does justice to it. His role requires underplaying and he does that perfectly. Tejashri goes overboard in the happy-go-luck RJ phase, but through the second half, she is at her best. Sharvani Pillai as Siddharth’s sister Revati is convincing too.

Asehi Ekda Vhave falls in the not-so-bad but not-so-good space. There’s nothing to hate about it but nothing to absolutely love either. If you want to, watch it for Umesh and Tejashri’s performances.
