Sithara Krishnakumar: 'Vanamakalunnuvo' song took the maximum time to record

The song is from the film 'Vimanam'
Your second State Award is here!

Thank you and this is my first call! I didn’t know that the awards will be announced today and came to know about it only when a friend texted me a few minutes ago, about the award. I am in Thiruvananthapuram for a show while my husband and daughter are in Kochi. So, I am feeling a little sad about it but the joy of bagging an award is definitely there.

What’s special about Vanamakalunnuvo, which bagged you the award?

This is a song composed by Gopi Sunder, for whom I have sung many songs over the years. Generally, he takes very little time to do the recording but this is the one that took the maximum time to record! He had paid a lot of attention to its details.

So, did you expect an award for it?

I didn’t have any inkling that the song would bring me such a laurel. I was just focussed on the song and busy enjoying it, that’s all!

How was the year gone by for you?

It’s in the past year that I sang the maximum number of songs in my career, including both solo tracks and group numbers. The year kept me busy with shows too and I also ventured into composing, through the film Udalazham. Out of all the songs I sang, Vanamakalunnuvo was one of the songs that I liked the best!
