, who has sung in about 18 languages and has many hit songs in Malayalam, turns 82 today.

Janaki, who hails from Guntur, was born in 1938 and and debuted as a playback singer in 1957 in Tamil. Her first Malayalam song was 'Irul Moodukayo En Vaazhvil' in the movie 'Minnunnathellam Ponnalla.' Interestingly, the singer, who has won many awards including four National Awards for the best vocalist, isn't classically trained in music. She has won maximum awards for her songs in Malayalam.
