Pullikkaran Staraa Music review

If the lyrics are to be trusted, the album

Pullikkaran Staraa

is mostly a soundtrack for kids, with the exception of one romantic song that is served the last. There is no doubt that the children's songs have a certain degree of charm about them, but they do not exude the quality to top music charts, unless powered by some interesting visuals.

Sreya Jayadeep sings the interestingly worded song Tapp Tapp, which is a mittayipattu about candies and kids. The track's innocent charm kicks off with an energetic rhythm. The repeated imageries of various kinds of mittayis like chooral mittayi, poriyan mittayi and the like make it naughty and interesting. Sreya, an already proven gifted singer, has rendered the number with ease.

Vijay Yesudas sings the next song Oru Kaavalam Painkili, written by B K Harinarayanan. The song flows like a beautiful brook, and is yet again a song for kids. The lyrics makes you visualise a grown man having some fun with his kuttipattalam and sharing some stories and music. Here and there, it is reminiscent of the age-old song Thannannam Thaanannam Thaalathilaadi. Nevertheless, the song has its moments and can win some hearts.
The third song Maathalathen is sung again by Vijay Yesudas and he sounds smooth in this piece, which is for an upset little kid. The song is pretty average and doesn't merit repeated listens, at least as a standalone song.

M Jayachandran serves his best in the album, as the last track Kilivathilin Chare Nee. Sung by a relatively unheard of singer Anne Amie, it's a simple, melodious romantic track that can win some fans, instantly.
