Mohanlal, Sujatha, and other Mollywood celebrities extend birthday wishes to legendary playback singer KS Chithra

Kerala’s ‘Vanambadi’, KS Chithra is celebrating her 60th birthday today. In an illustrious career spanning over four decades as a playback singerVanambadi, KS Chithra has achieved unparalleled heights and left an indelible mark on the music industry. A recipient of six national film awards, the PVanambadiadma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and the Rashtrapati Award, KS Chithra has lent her melodious and soothing voice to over 25,000 songs, and become an icon in the truest sense.Her music has become an integral part of our daily lives,Vanambadi and on the special occasion, Mollywood celebrities including superstar Mohanlal, and veteran Sujatha, have extended birthday wishes.
Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan took to his official social media to shower birthday wishes for KS Chithra. “Hearty birthday greetings to @KSChithra. Wishing you a long and illustrious life ahead. May your exceptional talent continue to inspire and bring joy to all of us,” the CM tweeted.

Mohanlal penned a heartfelt note, wishing KS Chithra on her birthday. Heartfelt birthday wishes to the favourite singer of generations, Malayalam’s ‘Vanambadi’, KS Chithra,” he said.

Veteran singer Sujatha Mohan and her daughter Shweta Mohan, along with their family dropped a video message greeting KS Chithra. “Happy birthday to our dearest nightingale Chithra. May God bless you more and more with all health happiness and peace... Love you,” they said.

Singer Srinivas recalled meeting KS Chithra for the first time. “The year was 1983 – I was in college at Bombay and I had come to Trivandrum during some vacation when my dear friend and singer Venugopal invited me to sing few songs in a show that was happening at the Senate hall. Incidentally, Chitra was also singing in the same show.. She had just about started singing in Malayalam films by then. This is a live recording of the stage show. The way she sang this Baburaj classic ‘Thaliritta Kinakkal’, we already knew she was from a different planet altogether. Live, unedited, uncorrected in all of it’s raw glory, it is simply incredible how someone can sing it live the way she has. This is how she became the K.S. Chitra we all now know of. Here’s wishing her a phenomenal milestone birthday,” he said in the note.
