KGF music director to compose ‘mass’ BGM for Power Star

Director Omar Lulu, who pulled off a casting coup of sorts for his upcoming action-thriller

, is also roping in heavyweight talents for the work behind the camera. The latest addition to the movie is KGF music director Ravi Basrur.

’ movie,” wrote Omar, in a social media post recently. The film is Ravi’s second venture in Mollywood after Muddy. The composer is also part of upcoming movies such as KGF: Chapter 2 and Prabhas’

Power Star, meanwhile, is expected to go on floors this year. Omar had earlier told us, “We are planning to start work by February or March next year. This will be a theatrical release because it needs a big budget; an OTT release is not viable. We want to start shoot only three months prior to knowing that people will come back to theatres. That will happen after the vaccine is made available and people get back to their earlier routine.”

Apart from Babu Antony, the movie also has Hollywood actors Louis Mandylor and former five-time World Kickboxing Champion Robert Parham. The film also marks the comeback of New Delhi and Rajavinte Makan scriptwriter Dennis Joseph, who had last worked in Mohanlal’s Geethanjali in 2013.

The film marks the first time that Omar is casting an established actor in the lead. In a social media post last year, he said he is more nervous about this movie than the others – mainly because of its hero Babu Antony. “When I did my first film and people asked me who the hero was, I told them Siju Wilson. But many wouldn’t know him and I had to tell them the guy who acted in Neram and Premam. The same was the case when I cast Balu (Varghese) in Chunkzz and I had to refer to him as the bro in Honey Bee and King Liar. Adaar Love too had a bunch of newcomers and even for Dhamaka, I had to repeat the same for Arun,” he wrote.

But the case is entirely different for Powerstar, the filmmaker noted. “It’s my biggest blessing that in this film, when people ask me who the hero is, I just have to say Babu Antony. I didn’t have to struggle to give any other movie references or superlatives,” he wrote. “So, I am tense about this movie as he is coming back as a hero after 20 years of not playing a lead role. The pressure is more from that fact that I want to keep the faith that he has in me.”
