The lyrics were written by Vairamuthu whereas Sirivennela Sitaramasastri wrote the Telugu lyrics for the dubbed version. Interestingly, this was a song for which lyrics were written first. The track incorporates sounds of tanpura, kanjira and flute and it is based on raag Bihag.
The soundtrack album of ‘O Kadhal Kanmani’ has nine songs. Majority of the tracks for the original version were penned by renowned lyricist Vairamuthu. Its songs are often judged as a fusion of contemporary music with the classical forms of Hindustani and Carnatic music.
As for Harisankar, about a month ago, he had also released a devotional album titled ‘Aananda Sagaram.’ Composed by Ranjith Meleppatt and penned by Raghunath Guruvayoor, it also had many other prominent artistes like Roopa Revathi on violin, Rajesh Cherthala on flute, Prasanth on percussion, Sandeep Mohan on guitar and bass, V Soundara Rajan on veena and Abhijith M Warrier on Nadaswaram. The album, which was launched by Mohanlal on Janmashtami day, had also won him much appreciation. The singer also has a band named ‘Pragathi,’ which had released a trilingual music video a while ago.
