Ezra

With many hit makers at the helm of affairs, one would expect the jukebox of

Ezra

to have some catchy tracks and hummable tunes.

Though the album does impress in parts, it doesnt quite live up to the expectations.
The soundtrack starts off with a melody Lailakame, sung by Haricharan. An easy-to-hum romantic melody composed by Rahul Raj and worded by BK Harinarayanan, the track has an impressive hook line through the refreshing terminology, Lailakame. Haricharans vocal prowess shines through perfectly in this song, complementing the lyrics and melody, making the song a sure-shot crowd-pleaser.

The next song Thambiran, by Vipin Raveendran is composed by Kismath fame Sushin Shyam and Anwar Ali. A blend of folkish lyrics and singing, with some modern instrumental backing, it does create a bit of horror-film feel, but not to the effect of arresting our attention.
The final song Irulu Neelum Raave, penned by Vinayak Sasikumar is sung by Kisa Paathiyil fame Sachin Balu. Probably due to the similarity in the feel and rendition, you get reminded of the Kismath song very much at many junctures of the composition especially in the first few lines.
Musically, Ezra doesnt quite pack a punch. If helped by some stunning visuals that complement it, it might work in theatres.
