Escape from Uganda

Escape from Uganda
The music of Escape from Uganda is sure to get you addicted if you are a fan of non-Indian genres of music. The four songs in the film have been composed in completely different ways, and you get to hear a lot of fresh new sounds.
While Gopi Sundar has tuned Ee Sundariye, Varun Unni has composed for the other three. Thenalle, sung by Sachin Warrier is the usual upbeat song with a pleasant chorus but quite listenable.

Sundariye, the second song, easily takes the cake. Gopi has incorporated a lot of African rhythms and sounds in the song. The lyrics are in Malayalam but they blend beautifully with the rest. The composer himself has lent his voice to the song, supported by Anna Kathrina, but the voice has somehow been modified to an African texture and the result is delightful. Everything has come together perfectly in this song and it can get you addicted.
The video featuring Rima Kallingal and African dancers is also a class apart. Ee Eravile, the third song, belongs to its singer, Rahul Nambiar. An interesting intro which piques your curiosity, muted drums in the bg and several new age sounds are the highlights. Yaanam, again doesnt sound like a Malayalam song, composed with a reggae flavour. Suchith Suresans vocal track gets interesting after a while and this song too is surely worth a listen.
