Best female singer award is amusing
Little singer Uthara Unnikrishnans innocent rendition of the song Azhage Azhage from the film Saivam had bagged her many fans, but the National Award jurys decision to pick her as the Best Female Singer of the year has not gone down well with many in the music fraternity.
Singer Pradip Somasundaran recently wrote on his online page, Congrats to all the National award winners especially to Gopi Sunder, who did us proud in the music department from Kerala! And kudos to the jury members for proving (if that was what they wanted to) that last year there was no female singer in the whole of India, who sang a film song better than the (heavily auto tuned-pitch correction software applied) song of the 5th class student Uthara Unnikrishnan...
1x1 polls
Remember... National awards were given in yesterday years to legends like Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, P Susheela, S Janaki, Vani Jayaram, and later on to K.S Chitra, Kavita Krishnamurthy (the non-auto tune era), Shreya Ghoshal... and so on... I am really amused.
Composer Bijibal had also mentioned on his page, I dont believe there are no good singers in India. Polishing ones singing skills is different from singing in itself. That said, all I have for kids is affection.
