After shock announcement on quitting Malayalam industry, Vijay Yesudas sings for short film

Vijay Yesudas had shocked fans when he announced a few months back that he would not sing playback for Malayalam films, in protest against the treatment meted out to singers and composers in the industry. And while he said that the Tamil and Telugu industries are more respectful of musician and he would continue to sing in there, there is a glimmer of hope for Malayali fans with the recently announced short film Mozhikal Njan, Varikal Nee, directed by newbie Basil V Edappattu with music composed by

Prasanth Mohan

MP. He has rendered a duet for the film with Mridula Warrier. Mozhikal Njan, Varikal Nee is set to be released on social media by the end of the month.

The 20-minute short film on friendship and love has

Gouri Kishan

, who recently featured in Master, and Prasanth in the lead roles. Prasanth is excited about roping in Vijay Yesudas for the song, and the composer-actor says, “Vijayettan had just about made his announcement when I contacted him about this song. He asked me to send it to him; I hadn’t really expected to get a positive response, but apparently, he liked it and called the next day to say that he would do it.” The song, written for Malayalam by Vinayak Sasikumar, will also be recorded in Tamil and Telugu with different singers.

Gouri Kishan has Sunny Wayne starrer Anugraheethan Antony, directed by Prince Joy, coming up. Prasanth is in discussions to finalise the composing for a couple of Tamil movies.
