Virus: Court stay for Aashiq Abu’s much awaited project

The film was expected to release this summer
Aashiq Abu’s film

Virus

has been one of the most awaited films of this year, because of the grand line up of actors in it as well as its treatment of the deadly Nipah outbreak in Kozhikode last year.

The makers are now caught in a legal scuffle, after White film director Uday Ananthan alleged that the story and title of Virus belongs to him. He had filed a petition, following which the Ernakulam Sessions Court has stayed the release of Virus, citing copyrights violation.

The film is based on Nipah virus, which broke out and cost at least 17 lives in Kozhikode. The makers of Virus had roped in Rima Kallingal, Tovino Thomas, Parvathy, Asif Ali and Kunchacko Boban, besides a few others.

That said, no official statement has been released by team Virus yet.
