100 Days of Love

This 2015 rom-com is directed by debutant director Jenuse Mohamed. He is son of veteran director Kamal. According to a review in TOI, "100 Days of Love is a stylish film that is nothing out of the ordinary. What is different is the treatment - humour and novelties - the director brings to table that is clever enough to keep us engaged till the last frame." The lead actors, after their rocking chemistry in Usthad Hotel, were paired again in this film and their chemistry was appreciated.

Thattathin Marayathu

Thattathin Marayathu is a cross-culture romance directed by multi-talented Vineeth Srinivasan. Hindu boy (Nivin Pauly) falls in love-at-first-sight with a Muslim girl (Isha Talwar). The plot seems very simple and clichéd but the outcome was totally endearing. The comic timing of the supporting cast was perfect and there were no dull moments in the film. The chemistry between Nivin and Isha was very much palpable.

Annayum Rasoolum

Annayum Rasoolum is another movie about two lovers of different religions directed by Rajeev Ravi. This was an unconventional love story which viewers enjoyed and loved a lot. The chemistry between Fahadh and Andrea was so intense that, according to reports, it even led to off-screen romance between them. Fahadh did full justice to his role as Rasool. Rajeev Ravi shot the movie aesthetically and the music, too, was a big hit.

Aniyathipraavu

Aniyathipraavu, one more cross-cultural romance, which turned out to be a trendsetter is still considered as one of the greatest film ever made in Malayalam cinema. Its climax is one of the best scenes ever, showcased beautifully by director Fazil. The chemistry between Kunchacko Boban and Shalini made them one of the most loved couple on-screen. The songs composed by music director Ouseppachan are still hit.

Chemmeen

Chemmeen was the first movie to win Indian President's Gold Medal for the Best Film in the year 1965. This romantic-drama was adapted from the novel Chemmeen written by Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai. It is reportedly the first creative film in South Indian film industry. The film deals with pre-marital and even extra-marital relationship. The star cast includes Sathyan, Madhu and Sheela in the leads. The music for the film was given by Salil Chowdhury and lyrics by Vayalar Ramavarma. According to a list by IBN Live, Chemmeen is one of the 100 greatest films ever made in India.

Devaraagam

Devaraagam is a 1996 romantic film directed by Bharathan. It stars South superstars Arvind Swamy and Sridevi. This romantic drama had a positive end but with many twists. The onscreen chemistry between the lead pair was amazing. According to reports, Revathy dubbed for Sridevi in the movie. The music for the film was given by MM Keeravani and lyrics were penned by MD Rajendran.

Ee Puzhayum Kadannu

Ee Puzhayum Kadannu is a romantic thriller film directed by Kamal that released in the year 1996. This was the second movie starring Dileep and Manju Warrier. Their onscreen romance was once again hugely appreciated by the audience. Ee Puzhayum Kadannu had beautiful and melodious songs. The music was given by Johnson and lyrics by Gireesh Puthenchery. Manju Warrier went on to win Kerala State Film Award and Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

Kamal directed romantic film Niram was about relationship between two friends, who until end do not realize their love for each other. Niram also showcased beautiful chemistry between Kunchacko Boban and Shalini.

Sallapam

Sallapam was the first movie to star the former loved couple Dileep and Manju Warrier. With this movie, their off-screen chemistry also blossomed. The movie went on to become a super-hit in the year 1996. The tragic end of the movie was a major twist. The song Chandana Cholayil became a chartbuster. The other songs, too, were quite popular in this musical romantic movie.

Thoovanathumbikal

This 1987 romantic film is considered as one of the greatest films of Malayalam cinema ever. Thoovanathumbikal is adapted from the novel Udakappola written by P.Padmarajan who even directed this film. The protagonist Jayakrishnan (Mohanlal) falls in love with two girls at the same time, Radha (Parvathy) and Clara (Sumalatha), and how he conquers the dilemma of whom to marry is the main plot of the film. The beautiful songs of the film was the main highlight. Rain is considered as another main character of the film.
