Why hasn't Adoor ever worked with Mohanlal?

Acclaimed filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan is known for his apt casting when it comes to his movies. The director has worked with several top thespians in the industry including Bharat Gopi, Mammootty and most recently Dileep.

However, one actor who he hasn't chosen in his storied career spanning 50 years is Mohanlal. Ask him why and he tells us, 'Often I pick the cast after finishing the script. The actors have to look the part ' in terms of physique, character and looks. Some actor's faces do come in mind while writing the script but I do not approach them till I am done with the scripting.
