Why give Kamal a Muslim identity, asks Aashiq Abu

Aashiq Abu has lashed out against forces which have labelled director Kamal as a Muslim antinational. The director has quoted an article which questions the conversion of Kamal into 'Kamaluddin', a Muslim, who is antinational.

activists burned an effigy of Kamal for opposing the singing of the national anthem before every film screening at the IFFK 2016. They also protested by singing the anthem in front of his home at Thrissur.

Kamal, the current Chairman of

Kerala State Film Academy

, has responded that the ones who sang the anthem in front of his house should examine who is actually disrespecting the anthem.
