When Sai Pallavi opened up about embracing her insecurities: 'Inner beauty is what matters'

As the Sai Pallavi starrer ‘Amaran’ is receiving good reviews and is raking in good numbers at the box office, let’s take a look at when the ‘Premam’ actress revealed that she had insecurities about her looks.

Known for her minimal use of makeup, Sai Pallavi was asked a question by VSN Murthy in an old interview on the reason why she used lesser makeup products.


Sai Pallavi said that if someone asks her about her makeup, she has no specific answer for them. Describing her as a normal girl, with normal skin, having pimples, Sai Pallavi shared, “I have my own insecurities.”


Reacting to the fact that she was popularly known as the ‘Malar’ girl after the success of the Nivin Pauly starrer ‘Premam’, Sai Pallavi said that she clearly understood that the character she plays in a movie is more important than any other matters.


“How beautiful am I? How am I dressed? How do I look? They liked Malar, the character has a lot more impact on the audience when they like an actress,” said the ‘Fidaa’ actress.


Interestingly, Sai Pallavi had once rejected a commercial for a fairness cream. Citing the reason the actress said that she doesn’t endorse such beauty products. “You need to be confident about who you are and your skin color,” said Sai Pallavi.


The ‘Amaran’ actress further said that one shouldn’t judge a person based on their appearance, highlighting the universal fact that ‘Inner beauty is what matters’.


Further, she said in the interview that after the success of Alphonse Puthren’s ‘Premam’, many directors suggested that she should wear light make-up, and as soon as she applied make-up, they said that her expressions were more visible when she went for a no make-up look.


Sai Pallavi said, “My cheeks turn red when I am angry or shy. They said that they like that.”


Meanwhile, Sai Pallavi’s recent film ‘Amaran’ has collected Rs 137.85 crores within 11 days.
