When Mammootty said, “I won’t exist if cinema doesn't exist”
Through several struggles and even flop movies in the past, the legendary actor Mammootty has paved the way for his success in the film industry and is surely one of the icons in Indian cinema. Let’s take a throwback look at the time when Mammootty revealed his passion for cinema.
Earlier during the promotional event for the action flick ‘Turbo’, Mammootty said that his fans are the reason why he survived in the film industry for over 42 years. “Almost 42 years, we actors stand high due to our fans’ courage and love. I won’t let them go ever.”
Further highlighting his passion for cinema, Mammootty said that being in films is like breathing for him and once he stops cinema, he ceases to exist. “I won’t exist if cinema doesn’t exist, “ said the ‘Bazooka’ actor.
In another earlier interview, Mammootty said that people won’t remember him after he is gone. Talking to Khalid Al Ameri, the legendary actor said, “But how long will they remember me? One year? Ten years? Fifteen years? Finished. Don’t expect people to remember you till the end of the world. That won’t happen to anybody."
Mammootty further said that he is only one among a thousand actors and if he is gone, people won’t remember him forever. He said, “I am one among thousands of actors. How can they remember me for more than a year? Once you are not in the world, how will you know about you?"
On the work front, Mammootty has several highly awaited projects in the pipeline such as Deeno Dennis’s directorial ‘Bazooka’ and an upcoming untitled Mahesh Narayanan project.
