Veteran Malayalam actor Madhu is celebrating his 87th birthday today. The ace actor who has completed over five decades in the showbiz, has worked with some of the finest actors in Indian cinema including Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan! Madhu who is predominantly working in Malayalam movies has also been part of three Bollywood movies and one of them was with Sr. Bachchan. ’. The movie was released on 7th November 1969. Amitabh

was making his debut as an actor and Madhu was a popular star from Malayalam cinema. The movie also marks the debut of Madhu in Bollywood.

Madhu and Amitabh Bachchan played the lead characters alongside five others. ‘Saat Hindustani’ was directed by KA Abbas. The movie told the story of seven Indians, who were from different religious and geographical backgrounds, fighting together to liberate Goa from the colonial rule of the Portuguese. Madhu played the role of Shubodh Sanyal, a Bengali football player in the movie. And Amitabh Bachchan played the role of a poet Anwar Ali in the movie.

Madhu has also acted in two other Hindi movies ‘Mere Sajne’ and ‘Chakachak’.

Madhu who has been working in cinemas for over 57 years now has bagged five state awards. His directorial debut, ‘Priya’ which was released in 1970, also bagged the Kerala State Film Award for the second best film. He was also conferred with Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award in 2013. The actor has also bagged the prestigious J. C. Daniel Award for Lifetime Achievement from the Government of Kerala in 2004.
