What’s so special about Prithviraj’s car in Ranam

In the early posters and the trailers of

Ranam

, the car that Prithviraj’s character drives stood out. The Pontiac LeMans car hogged a lot of limelight and Prithviraj being a petrolhead that he is also had a say which car was chosen for the movie.

The movie’s director Nirmal Sahadev says, “When Prithviraj and I talked about the car his character Aadi drives, we knew we needed something macho. It has a lot of steel that oozes masculinity.” We also hear that Prithviraj had plans of importing the car to India but couldn't because of the massive processes that were involved.

The filmmaker also explains, “Most of the cars we use in the movie are American cars but what’s special about this one is that it was manufactured when Detroit was at its peak in 1969. It’s a Pontiac made in Detroit.”
