#Whatif: ‘Joker’ was made in Mollywood

Welcome back, my mighty travelers. “Is it just me, or is it getting crazier out there?”, this dialogue from the movie ‘Joker’ really hit me on different levels and intrigued me to explore more into the film. So guys I have taken a ticket to the Hollywood film ‘Joker’ and you guys will be exploring all the possibilities of ‘#Whatif ‘Joker’ was made in Mollywood’. Your travel guide Simon is a huge fan of the actor Joaquin Phoenix and is excited about today's journey. Over to Simon.

#Simon says, “Hello guys, I know you have the ticket to one of the best Hollywood classic films, ‘Joker’. Quickly hand over the ticket and tighten your seatbelts as ETimes presents the Eleventh episode of the #Whatif series.”

Possibility 1: Joker as Fahadh Faasil

#Simon says, “Psycho Shammi, Viju Prasad from ‘Trance’ movie, are there any other examples needed to prove that the Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil aces at performing psycho roles? ‘Joker’ has much depth to his characterization and the actor Joaquin Phoenix perfectly executed the character in the Hollywood film ‘Joker’. Coming to the Malayalam remake of ‘Joker’, Fahadh Faasil could really shine in reprising the role of ‘Joker’.”

Possibility 2: Murray Franklin as Siddique

#Simon says, “ The TV anchor character Murray Franklin was played by the legendary actor Robert De Niro and at times he is a really irritating character with some antagonist elements in him. In the Mollywood remake of ‘Joker’, the Malayalam actor Siddique will be apt for helming the role of Murray Franklin, as he is a master at balancing both shades of antagonism and a ‘Perfect guy ’ role.”

Possibility 3: Sophie Dumond as Nazriya Nazim

#Simon says, “There is only one specific point in the Hollywood film ‘Joker’, the titular cold-hearted character ‘Joker’ falls in love with a woman named Sophie Dumond. Originally the character Sophie Dumond was played by the actress Zazie Beetz and coming to the Malayalam remake of ‘Joker’, the character would perfectly fit the actress Nazriya Nazim. Actress Nazriya Nazim is apt for this role as she has a kind of innocent look which is essential for the character Sophie Dumond.”

Possibility 4: Joker romancing in Shibu style

#Simon says, “Joker could take some romancing lessons from the villain character Shibu in ‘Minnal Murali’ and could try Shibu’s iconic dialogue during his romantic scene with Sophie Dumond, that goes like’ 28 varshathe ente kaathiripp aanu( I have waited for over 28 years for you).”

Possibility 5: Joker meeting the little ‘Minnal Murali’

#Simon says, “ In the original Hollywood film ‘Joker’, there is an iconic scene where Joker meets the younger self of Batman character Bruce Wayne. Coming to the Malayalam remake, we have our own ‘Nadan’ superhero ‘Minnal Murali’ and thus Joker will be having a small chat with the younger self of ‘Minnal Murali’ aka Jaison.”

Possibility 6: Too much violence is a big no

#Simon says, “We all know that Joker is a kind of character with lots of antagonist traits in him. At one point in the film, he even kills his own mother. In the Malayalam remake of ‘Joker’, most of the violent scenes in the film will be cut off. In that way, we won't be able to get to know more of the antagonist side of the character ‘Joker’.

#Simon says, “ The Hollywood film ‘Joker’ is one of those films that has a perfect character depth which is really useful for an actor to explore his acting potential. In Malayalam cinema, there are several actors like Fahadh Faasil, Suraj Venjaramoodu who are exceptional in breathing life into characters without losing the emotional quotient in them. A film like ‘Joker’ would be perfect for them to shine in their respective roles. So in this episode, we have looked at many of the possibilities on ‘#Whatif ‘Joker’ was made in Mollywood. See you next time with yet another interesting episode of #Whatif series.”
