"Went to watch ‘Marco’ with my pregnant wife, but had to leave the theater" – actor Kiran Abbavaram

Telugu actor Kiran Abbavaram recently revealed that he had to leave the theater midway while watching Unni Mukundan’s ‘Marco’ with his pregnant wife. His statement comes amid growing criticism in Kerala regarding the film’s violent content. Many have raised concerns that movies like Marco could influence aggressive tendencies among the youth.


Expecting an entertaining experience, they were instead met with intense violence, which his wife found unbearable. Citing excessive brutality, Kiran stated that she could not continue watching the film.

"I watched Marco, but I couldn’t finish it. I had to leave before the second half. The violence felt excessive. I went with my wife, who is pregnant, and we found it hard to sit through. She didn’t feel comfortable watching it, so we walked out," Kiran shared in an interview with Galatta Telugu.


Reacting to the current issue in Kerala regarding violence among youth and the impact of media on the same, the Marco’ actor Jagadish said in a press conference that only his character in the movie promotes violence and not him. He said, “The question is, do audiences like the character or Jagadish as a person?" he asked. He further pointed out that films often convey positive messages, too. "Take Lage Raho Munna Bhai, for example. It promoted Gandhian values. But how many people actually adopted those values? So, can we really say that audiences are only influenced by negativity and not by goodness?.”

Meanwhile, Unni Mukundan also reacted to the same in an interview, saying that movies are a reflection of the society. Talking to Galatta Plus, the ‘Marco’ actor said, “I'm not justifying the portrayal of violence on screen, but the reality is that violence is an undeniable part of our society.”
