"I have been working in production for the past two years and was part of Mridul S Nair's B Tech movie. It was when I was toying with the idea of direction that Unni sir came home for a discussion with Achan. As he narrated the story, I was instantly attracted to it and wanted it to be the vehicle for my debut directorial.”
The screenplay will be by Shabna Mohammed, a friend of Kavya. "It was VKP who asked me if I could make a script out of the short story. I had read the story when it was published in a monthly and was able to relate to it. I have always wondered why only boys are allowed to perform azan," says Shabna.
The movie which is currently in pre-production stage is expected to go on floors in the beginning of 2019.
