Many are speaking in favor of saving the little village named
Alappad
in Kollam,which is facing the issue of massive soil erosion along its coastal stretch due to extensive beach sand mining.

Vinu Mohan, who hails from Kollam, is the one who raised his voice the latest, for the coastal village. "I have many friends in Alappad and I am pained to see its plight. The villagers have been raising this issue for quite a while, but not many are taking it seriously yet. It's time we lent them an ear," the actor says on his online page.
For the past few days, a popular hashtag campaign has also been fast gathering steam, thanks to the support of the netizens and videos uploaded by Alappad natives. Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas and Kollywood actor Vijay's fans had also lent their voices to the campaign.
