Vineeth Kumar on Rifle Club: Shajahan was inspired by many stars I’ve seen in the industry

From portraying the childhood version of Mammootty's iconic character Chandu in 'Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha' to receiving praise from the same actor for his recent role in 'Rifle Club', Vineeth Kumar is undoubtedly on cloud nine. The actor-director, who recently made his smashing comeback in the hit Aashiq Abu film, shares his excitement about the movie's success.

"When Aashiq briefed me about the character, the reference I received was that of a romantic hero from the '80s and '90s. The character was written with such precision that you can see a complete arc in Shajahan—how he rises to stardom, how he becomes an actor, and what he eventually transforms into. I didn’t have anything pre-planned for the character, but every day on set, the character evolved. During the shoot, everyone started calling me Shajahan or Sha Mon. Shajahan was inspired by many stars I’ve seen in the industry," he said.


Although Vineeth had been gaining attention with his directorial ventures 'Pavi Caretaker' and 'Dear Friend', it is after a brief hiatus that the actor is back in the limelight with a memorable character, and he is truly enjoying every moment of it.

"It's a great feeling. Where else will you get the opportunity for rebirths like this? It's not just the fans; it's a privilege that even the industry has appreciated my character. When I met Mammookka, he said, 'You did the fights well.' Chackochan and many other friends from the film fraternity messaged me after watching the movie. I feel truly blessed," he shared.


Along with his acting skills, it's his youthful looks that have captivated viewers once again. From his swag in the movie to his power-packed dance moves during promotions, fans are showering praise on his charm.

"I think it's the genetics. And honestly, I haven't felt like I'm aging. I have a commitment to both my body and my life, so I feel obliged to maintain it—maybe that’s helping. I'm someone who receives a lot of love, and that could be a reason too," the actor chuckled.
