Velipadinte Pusthakam movie review highlights: The first half offers a tale, which has never before been told

The first half of the film Velipadinte Pusthakam, which is 157 minute-long, tells us that it is campus tale offering a never-before story. It is set in a college campus, Phoenix College, which is located in a coastal area, and it is often witness to clashes between the haves from the city and the have-nots from the neighbourhood.
How things change when a new faculty steps into the college forms the rest of the story. Mohanlal plays Micheal Idikkula, the new faculty member, whose character has a few interesting shades. This is something he probably might not have tried in the past in his other roles.
Anna Rajan plays the character of Mary Miss, a biology teacher

She looks the part well, except when her character develops an interest in another. Salim Kumar plays Prem Raj, another faculty member. The disappointment of the first half is that most of his comic lines fall flat.
