Unni R is a happy man these days. The Kerala State Film Awards this year left him with several reasons to cheer, with him earning the best scriptwriter honour for Charlie, which also won seven other awards. Also, the best film Ozhivu Divasathe Kali was based on his short story.
The scribe is now gearing up for another onscreen depiction, that of his short story Leela. The movie adaptation is helmed by acclaimed director Ranjith and has Biju Menon playing its lead character Kuttiyappan, and Parvathy Nambiar will be seen in the title role.
'It's a dream project of sorts. It's a movie so it can't be an exact representation of the story. That said, I am completely satisfied with how the movie has turned out,' says Unni, adding that the team had wrapped up shooting in 26 days.
The film, which is scheduled for an April release, also has Indrans, Vijayaraghavan and Jagadeesh playing supporting characters.
