Even before director Vishnu Mohan and actor Unni Mukundan have finished working on Meppadiyan, their first film together, the duo have announced their next project. Titled Pappa, the movie will go on floors early next year.
Vishnu, who will also be scripting Pappa, tells us, “Unni will be seen as a politician throughout the movie, which belongs to the genre of a political thriller.

It will be set in Thodupuzha, Idukki and Thiruvananthapuram and we are planning to start the shoot by March 2021. We will be finalising the rest of the cast soon.”
Ask him if the project took shape while working with Unni for Meppadiyan and the director says, “The project was in the pipeline. Meppadiyan was delayed because of the pandemic and now that we are shooting the film, we thought of planning so that Pappa too goes on floors soon.”
The team has been shooting for Meppadiyan in Pala, Kottayam and Erattupetta. “We have completed 21 days of shoot now and have another 25 to go. We have been following the Covid-19 protocols, but there’s some delay because of that too. The movie is set in a period a decade ago and so when we have outdoor shoots, there are people wearing masks and we have clear them from the frame to film,” says the filmmaker, adding there are another 25 days of shoot left for the film that also has Anju Kurian, Saiju Kurup and Major Ravi.
