Unni Mukundan lodges police complaint citing threats to life and career amid former PR Vipin Kumar's allegations of verbal and physical abuse- Report
The ongoing rift between Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan and his former public relations manager, Vipin Kumar, has taken a serious turn, with both parties approaching the police and seeking protection for their lives.
About Unni Mukundan's complaint
According to Manorama News, Unni Mukundan has submitted a formal complaint to the Kochi police, alleging that he has been receiving death threats. The actor has also escalated the matter to the state’s Director General of Police (DGP), citing threats to both his personal safety and professional life. According to the report, Unni stated that he received a threatening phone call two weeks ago. In his complaint, Unni alleged that he has been advised to remain vigilant due to Vipin and was warned about women who might attempt to file false complaints against him.
Vipin Kumar's reaction
Vipin Kumar remains resolute and has made counter-allegations against the actor. He accused Unni of both verbal and physical abuse and claimed that the actor has a “bad history” and has “misbehaved with many people.” Vipin has also challenged Unni’s claim that there is no video evidence of the alleged incident. He told the publication that the police are currently examining CCTV footage related to the case.
In addition to lodging a complaint with the police, Vipin has also reached out to FEFKA (Film Employees Federation of Kerala) and AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists), urging both organisations to look into the matter. Both film bodies are reportedly attempting to mediate the conflict between the two.
About the issue between Unni and Vipin
The tension intensified on Monday evening when Vipin filed another police complaint, this time alleging that Unni assaulted him in the parking lot of the actor’s Kochi residence. He claimed the dispute erupted following a social media post that praised Tovino Thomas’ latest film Narivetta.
Unni later admitted that he broke Vipin’s sunglasses during the altercation but denied any physical assault. He also suggested that the disagreement stemmed from defamatory rumours allegedly spread by Vipin. Unni shared a screenshot of his WhatsApp chat with Tovino Thomas to show the public that everything between them remains normal.
