Tovino is an ‘ambalavaasi’ in his next suspense thriller

The movie is directed by Anuraj Manohar
In the past decade, Mollywood has drifted away from its earlier hero prototype, who had a ‘chandanakkuri’ on his forehead and sported a mundu. However, Tovino Thomas’ upcoming movie will take the audience back to the days of vintage, naadan heroes.

The yet-to-be-titled film will be directed by debutant Anuraj Manohar and is scripted by Ratheesh Ravi, the scribe of Mammootty’s Pullikkaran Staraa.
The director tells us, “The plan right now is to begin filming by February 2018 and the entire shooting will be in Kochi.”

So, what is a ‘chandanakkuri’ guy doing in an urban city like Kochi? “Well, Tovino’s character is someone who lived all of his life in a remote village. He is attached to the temple and its various activities, the regional sports club, and the like. A few incidents though take to Kochi,” Anuraj says.

The film will also focus on the stark contrast in the life in a city and a village, says Anuraj, who has previously assisted directors Lijo Jose Pellissery and B Unnikrishnan. The team would be announcing the film’s title around Onam.
Meanwhile, Tovino is currently busy shooting in Kasaragod for Aashiq Abu’s directorial titled Mayanadhi.
