Tovino hops on to Theevandi as a ‘thozhil rahithan’

By mid-November, Tovino will start a new journey from Payyoli in Kozhikode, in a mission to discover himself.

No, the actor isn’t taking a break but is all set to start working on yet another project, which is starting to roll in the homeland of P T Usha.

Directed by debutant Fellini T P, the movie is titled Theevandi. Tovino plays the role of a jobless youngster named Bineesh, in the movie. The film’s scribe Vini Viswalal says, “The movie is a political satire, and its protagonist Bineesh hardly knows a thing even about himself. The story will be told through light humour and is devoid of anything fancy, like fight sequences.” The plot also encompasses two time periods, he adds.

Director Fellini says that Tovino’s character is extremely rustic in Theevandi. “He is very lazy to even comb his hair and just lives by, sans any plans,” he says. Though the location is Payyoli, the film isn't giving any specific name to the village where the story is set, he adds.

Chandini Sreedharan plays the female lead in the movie. Fellini says, “She is somebody who just cleared the PSC test and landed a job in a village office.” Suraj Venjaramoodu, Saiju Kurup and Surabhi Lakshmi are also part of Theevandi's cast. Pakarnnattam fame Kailas Menon composes the music and cinematography is handled by Gautham Sankar.
